brief: Making corsets and looks inspired by popular music and moments of pop culture (Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Harry Styles)
Art inspires art and when I love a song, movie, or book, I need to create something that encapsulates the feeling of it.

behind the look
Taking inspiration from the hit music video - good 4 u, I painted a shot from the mv. Olivia Rodrigo wears a corset in it so I thought an appropriate look had to include a corset. The purple side panels compliment Rodrigo’s grunge purple brand image while emulating the shiny latex gloves worn in the video. The “Like a Damn Sociopath,” a line from her song, painted in the bottom of the original image was stitched over the scene to add dimension and another interesting element to the layered scene.
Styling: The skirt was thrifted but really played well into the plaid angsty y2k teen narrative as well as matched the coloring of the corset.
Film filters and hand-drawn flames were used to enhance the shoot as well as a video filter that created these moving video stills.
deja vu inspired
This corset was strongly inspired but the visuals of deja vu by Olivia Rodrigo picturing a pink car driving down a road on an ocean side highway. Lace straps were chosen to evoke a dreamy delicate feeling and the clouds were painted in a spiral pattern for that trippy feeling similar to deja vu. The director of the music video @allieavital reposted the painting's Instagram reel on her story.
