Brief: Climate Adaptation Solution to Mitigate Food Insecurity

Solution: Temperature sensing corn planter created to combat food insecurity caused by increasing temperatures from climate change. This wheel is made to attach to existing corn planting machines to plant pretreated fungicide seeds based on outside temperature to prevent seed rot.

Attachment selects seed type to plant based on temperature

Using an existing corn planting wheel model, our team added a temperature-sensing component attachment that determines if the wheel with pretreated seeds spins. The designed attachment would have two wheels one with treated seeds and another with regular seeds. Depending on the temperature, the Arduino will determine which wheel spins to plant the correct seeds.
